This is the Pokegama by Grand Rapids in Itasca County, not the Pine County cousin Minnesota named when it ran out of Ojibwe words it felt like spelling. The Mississippi slides through a chain of neighbors and outlets at the Pokegama Dam, which is a very “we put a river in a bowl” arrangement.
