Lake Bemidji — Jiggin’ Raps and Deep Green Edges
Beardsley’s Sept. 2 Pioneer note opens with the softest Minnesota flex imaginable: some of the best fishing is right around the corner. Water temps slowly dropping. Fall bite just starting to take. Jigs and minnows creeping back into the conversation like an old friend who shows up when the weather turns.
On Bemidji itself (and the neighboring Andrusia / Big / Plantagenet cluster he groups with it): walleye improving on Jiggin’ Raps or a jig and minnow in 12–20 ft. Bass and the bigger panfish leaning on deeper green weedlines — same neighborhood for crappies, bluegills, and pike. No fairy-tale cold-front speech. Just the local guide saying the feed bag is coming out and the weed edges still have a pulse.
If you’re packing light: one jig box, one Rap that jigs, and the humility to fish the green edge instead of inventing a secret.
